“Seasons” exhibition series, sponsored by Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development, organized and presented by Bant Mag., in collaboration with ArtHere started with the exhibitions opened in April and July presenting works by Hare Sürel, Imad Habbab, Sedat Girgin and Toufic Hamidi. The third exhibition, bringing together different approaches to portraits by Ali Omar and Mert Tugen will be opening on 8 October, Saturday at Bant Mag. Mekân.
Istanbul based artist Mert Tugen has been producing art for various publications and he is also well-known for the beautiful work he creates for children’s books. Seasons – Act III will focus on a selection of the artist’s latest works. Tugen, who besides illustration also works in the fields of gif and street art, creates characters through his trademark style that draw the viewers to an enchanted world.
Tabke born artist Ali Omar finished his art studies in Damascus and has been living and working in Istanbul since 2015. He likes to work with mixed materials on canvas and through his portraits, he explores different and highly inspiring ways to connect human soul to human body. Omar will be showing a selection of distinctive works he has created in Istanbul, Tabke, Erbil and Damascus that wander around the notions of reality, identity and belonging.
“Seasons” exhibition series is sponsored by Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development, organized and presented by Bant Mag., in collaboration with ArtHere, which was opened by Syrian artists last year in Kadıköy in order to create a free space for both Syrian and Turkish artists. Each of the four exhibitions, which will be shown throughout the year, is bringing together a Syrian and a Turkish artist with similar motivations, different stories and partnering expressions. “Seasons” exhibition series, which we create in solidarity with artists who have fled their country and moved to Turkey due to the ongoing war, hopes to create an independent space for artistic production in Turkey.
