Local Tunes: Gökçen Kaynatan

With a career going back to late 50’s, even before Anatolian Rock as it is had emerged, Gökçen Kaynatan has made his mark on the history of Turkish music as a revolutionary pioneering the use of electronics. The first-ever collection of his early electronic works has just been released through Finders Keepers on December 1. In this self-titled compilation, you will find recordings dating back to late 60’s, never-before heard gems and perfect experiments of Turkish psych, rock and pop.

For those in Istanbul, Bant Mag. is throwing a very special album release party this Saturday, December 9 at Bina/Bant Mag. Havuz, with a Q-A with Gökçen Kaynatan moderated by Haluk Damar and with Doug Shipton, one of the founders of Finders Keepers, in the DJ Booth. Celebrating the release, Gökçen Kaynatan ve Elektronikleri will be performing at the MIX Festival at Zorlu PSM on December 16.
