Celebrating the local independent music: Demonation Festival kicks off January 5

Organized by Bant Mag., Kendine Has Demonation Festival No: 8 kicks off January 5, celebrating independent music for 3 days in 4 venues, presenting 11 acts. The festival will be occupying venues in both European and Asian parts of Istanbul with tunes ranging from hip hop to synth-pop, from ambient to psych-rock.

The opening night is taking place at Kadıköy’s arkaoda with Istanbul-based producer Badmixday, who released a debut through Hush Hush Records; the dark, heavily ambient infused experiments by Pullahs; and a brand new noisy pop project by Robo Geisha and Eylül Deniz Keleş under the name Kill Some Men.

Demonation Festival will be moving to Babylon on January 6, Saturday with 5 different acts sharing the stage. Ankara-based band Al’York’s pure rock’n’roll joy will be followed by Alike Places, the collaborative project by Lara di Lara and Levni, saluting 90’s trip hop in their own stylish electronics. This year’s guest of honour will be the synth-pop duo kim ki o, who has just released their new album ZAN. Another Ankara-based act, Aga Bando will then be bringing the hip hop to the stage. Fluctuosa, who has made a great first release in 2017 will be closing the night with his sonically detailed electronics.

On January 7, Demonation Festival will be moving back to Kadıköy, with a very special performance by Grup Ses presenting his project Awesome Tapes From Turkey at Bant Mag. Havuz. The last performances of the festival will be taking place at KargART stage by psychedelically brewed Congulus and synth-pop act Affet Robot.
