A Mixtape For You #3: Julia Holter

Even if they are not able to come and perform in Turkey, your fellow musicians and DJs from around the world, who have been here before have messages for you. Although the cultural life in country came to some sort of a halt, know that their music and thoughts are with us. Music is unity; it heals, gives hope, recognises no boundaries and is universal. So we start sharing their messages and the mixtapes they prepared especially for you. In hopes and dreaming of beautiful days…

A Mixtape For You #3: Julia Holter

Here is a collection of songs that, for whatever reason, seem to my ears to emanate love and seek truth at the same time: the truth of “other worlds” (Sun Ra)–not escapism, but a complex, ever-changing and vibrant perspective on life. They hit at some kind of deeper inexpressible emotions, I think. Some of these songs I’ve heard for a long time and some are new to me.

I’m happy to share this music with the wonderful readers of Bant Mag, and all those in beautiful Turkey who have to hold onto their creativity in trying times. I hope to see you soon, much love to you

-Julia
